The music surrounding the film “Juno”, the story of a smart aleck pregnant 16 year-old searching for a home for her baby, bounces along with the a topsy-turvy energy that matches the struggles of its heroine. While the way above-average soundtrack contains songs from both classic groups like The Velvet Underground and The Kinks and newer names like Sonic Youth and Cat Power, the majority of the music comes from Moldy Peaches member Kimya Dawson. The film’s director, Jason Reitman was in touch with Dawson early in the process and shaped the soundtrack around her earthy heartfelt tunes. The collaboration was so successful that the music itself becomes a character that is equally as important as Juno – giving her a voice when the crazy mixed-up world she is forced to navigate becomes too complex for even the wisest of wisenheimers. “Juno” is playing at the following theaters in Manhattan: – AMC Kips Bay 15 – 570 Second Ave. – AMC Theatres Empire 25 – 234 W. 42nd St. – Clearview Chelsea Cinemas – 260 W. 23rd St. – Regal Union Square Stadium 14 – 850 Broadway – AMC Loews Lincoln Square 13 – 1998 Broadway – UA East 85th St. – 1629 First Ave. – Regal Battery Park Stadium 11 – 102 North End Ave.
