The Raveonettes
Lust Lust Lust
Vice Records

by: Amy Wagner

The Raveonettes have a vibrant new album out today on Vice Records called Lust Lust Lust, the follow-up to 2005s Pretty in Black. This time out the Danish popsters have created a haunting, almost ominous echo that hangs over their throw-back harmonies and electric riffs. “Aly Walk With Me” plays like the long lost soundtrack of a ghost town that you instantly want to hum along to. “You Want The Candy” is lighter in tone, but for the crunching guitars and lyrics that mention “dirty treats,” it could have easily been cooed by harmony kings The Everly Brothers, one of The Raveonettes biggest musical influences. It might be a little early for summer but that season’s first fun in the sun song is here in the form of a shiny tune called “Blitzed.” You can hear bits of old surfing themes dipping in and out of the tracks blissful serenade to some serious summer lovin.’
