I WAS THERE . . . All Points West @ Liberty State Park, 8/1/09

And the sun shone overhead on the second day of All Points West……

Though Liberty State Park remained a muddy muckfest (good luck getting your deposit back, APW), better weather improved overall morale at the festival. Benefitting from this wave of happiness, a slew of comedian’s yucked it up at the Queen of the Valley tent. Though primarily music and art, APW featured a host of comedians including Christian Finnegan, Janeane Garofalo, and Jim Jefferies, who had jokes dirtier than the mud wrestlers nearby.

At 5:15, The Artic Monkeys shook their wavy hair as they brought their brand of garage rock from across the pond. St. Vincent’s front-woman Annie Clark shared her coquette-cum-possessed rocker appeal at the Bullet Stage just as Gogol Bordello gushed 50-minutes worth of gypsy punk excess, complete with two silver-suited dancers (one with cymbals, one with an upright drum), a fiddler, an accordionist, and a lead singer with more energy than a twentysomething on uppers. True to form, My Bloody Valentine was, well, loud–REALLY LOUD– and pleased fans at the Blue Comet main stage as well as fans all the way back at the Queen of the Valley tent.

The members of Tool were being tools and postponed their start time so many folks headed over to catch the end of Crystal Castles before The Ting Tings pop-rocked the crowd through the rest of the night.
