What’s Von Gutenberg Magazine and why should I care about it Ralph, you ask. Well, let me school ya my little drooges…
I’m especially tickled when a magazine that bills itself as a “fetish, fantasy and lifestyle†magazine gets produced, seeing that erotica and stuff like VGM, specific as it is to pics, columns and events of the rubber/vinyl and PVC community is so hard to produce and sell when these days we mostly find this kind of stuff on-line. When mags like Von Gutenberg do make it to print they are usually sold in fetish stores like our own Kinematics (check it out at 61 West 37th Street, #2) but publisher/photographer/CEO Erik V.G. produces a fantastically glossy and very naughty publication that is sold at stores like Barnes and Nobles to.
Erik is a world-class photographer and the magazine really has some fantastic pictures of PVC and rubber-clad models within its pages, but there is a lot more to Von Gutenberg and this is what I feel separates it from other magazines and even on-line sites. Rubberdoll, an infamous model in the ‘scene’ is the featured cover model for issue #3 (see an interview with her here) and there are never before published pictures of her taken this summer (by Erik) in Florida. She’s not the only lady featured of course, there are models Jewell Marceau and Mina de Sade and plenty more pictures, styles by designers in the fetish field Libertinesque, Madame S and legendary DeMask, plus columns from famous fetish scene-sters Midori and Violet Blue. There’s even a big report on the famous San Francisco-based Folsom Street Fairs past and present, a fetish institution if there ever was one.
Another aspect of Von Gutenberg that separates it from many other fetish model magazines is that in this issue Erik begins featuring male models. He has an interview (and pics of course) with Mister SF Leather 2010 Lance Holman, the first man to appear in Von Gutenberg, but Erik promises not the last.
