Thanksgiving: Go Big or Stay Home

Hornblower InfinityFor some, the holiday renders fond memories of visiting family and enjoying Grandma’s cooking, while for others Thanksgiving may evoke memories of hangovers hellishly endured with way too many relatives around to witness the struggle. For those able to make it out of the house (and brave enough to face the crowded streets on Thanksgiving in NYC), some venues are offering VIP-like experiences.

Looking to see the 89th annual Macy’s Day Parade, but not from the sidewalk? Monarch Rooftop & Indoor Lounge will have views of the balloons and parade from their rooftop on 35th Street and 6th Avenue (it will also be playing on their indoor screens, so you won’t miss it if you want to camp at the bar). Their open bar package comes in at just under $350 and includes light breakfast fare, hot beverages and an unlimited open bar from 9AM-2PM. Tickets can be found at Monarch Rooftop & Indoor Lounge.

Missing Grandma’s Italian cooking? Quality Italian is another spot on the parade route offering a three-hour brunch buffet with crispy pancetta, Italian cured meats, and Italian-style breakfast potatoes and sausages as well as unlimited mimosas, bellinis, and Bloody Marys. For around $200 guests can purchase non-seated tickets including drinks and food in the pretty, rustic dining space, but for VIP seats with parade views, guests will have to shell out more. Tickets can be found at Quality Italian.

Rather be on a yacht? Hornblower Cruises & Events is offering three-hour Thanksgiving dinner cruises including a classic Thanksgiving buffet with turkey and the trimmings. The cruise takes guests under the Brooklyn Bridge and past the Statue of Liberty, and for entertainment, there’s a live DJ and dance floor. For around $260, guests can purchase tickets including a top shelf bar pass. Tickets can be found at Hornblower Cruises & Events.
