Oh, Gwen! How I’ve missed you! It’s been a bit of time since we’ve heard some music. Seeing you on The Voice regularly has been a tease. But let’s not dwell on the what-if’s and focus on the now. Gwen has this uncanny swag and undeniable style both on and off her records. “Send Me a Picture” has a reggae, popish, too-cool sound and is so relevant to the social media-driven society in which we live. It’s flirty, fun and club-ready. “Used to Love You” taps into the truth section of the album, focusing on the bittersweet feelings after a break-up. ” I don’t know why I cry/But I think it’s cause I remembered for the first time/Since I hated you/That I used to love you.” Those are powerful lyrics. One thing I love best about Stephani is her ability to merge styles and still be authentic. “Lovable” proves that. It’s trap, a bit R&B and pop still the same. “Me Without You” is the Gwen I grew up loving! I honestly would have preferred it to a more rock track but, all in all, its a great song. There’s a real powerful message in it. “Getting Warmer” is catchy with beautiful melodies. It fits her vibe and is perfect for cruising on a summer day. Her vocals are great and complement the track. I could get used to her being back. I hope to see a visual soon!
