Let the Good Times Roll in Williamsburg with Louisiana Outpost: Bourbon Springs
The first thing you’ll notice at Bourbon Springs, the new Southern-inspired restaurant to bolster the dining roster of Graham avenue, is head chef and owner Emily Casey. A truly hands on owner, Emily’s passion in her work and her space comes through immediately with a warm welcome into the casual dining space and back yard picnic area. Emily, although trained under some of the best chefs in NYC, does not put on airs and is happy to talk through her menu, which includes some of the finest sustainable seafood available with a strong cajun flair.
On Sundays, you can join Emily and her team for an all you can eat Seafood Boil for $25 which includes a free Abita beer, starting at 6pm and going on ’til late. It was one of these boils that drew me in and rewarded me with fresh Atlantic crab and Gulf shrimp until I was stuffed to the gills.
As you wait for your seafood bounty to boil, dig into Deviled Eggs with cajun spice and trout roe, or Boudin Balls stuffed with cajun pork and rice sausage with mustard remoulade (apps range from $6-13).
Monday through Saturday, enjoy cajun classics like an Oyster Po’Boy loaded with all the fixins ($15), or Gumbo with shrimp, catfish, oysters, okra and rice ($15).
Cap your meal with a classic Bananas Foster and roll yourself sated back onto the Bburg streets. Or stay on and enjoy the sparkling patio lights coupled with a super menu of classic and creative cocktails including: Til Dusk Do We Part with earl grey infused gin, lavender, maraschino, and lime (all specialty cocktails are $11) or the Bourbon Springs Sazerac with wathen’s bourbon, dutch’s peach brand, banal, demerara, and peach bitters] – and don’t miss $8 cocktails for happy hour, everyday!
