Released in 1986, and delivering a wealth of heavy metal revelry at the time, Judas Priest’s 1oth studio album gets an update and add-ons here in this Turbo 30 release. On top of all the wonderful tunes from the nine-song studio album remastered here (the title track, “Wild Nights, Hot & Crazy Days” and “Parental Guidance” come immediately to mind), what we get extra are two discs from a live Kansas City show Judas Priest did way back on the tour to support Turbo.

This live stuff presents Priest in their glory; Rob Halford is wailing about the wildest he ever has, K.K. Downing and Glenn Tipton manage their double axe attack, and bassist Ian Hill and drummer Dave Holland rumble through the low end. On the 20 songs presented over three discs, you get such Priest classics as “The Hellion,” a down and dirty “Victim of Changes” and the truly commercial high water mark of this band, with songs like “Heading Out to the Highway,” “Living After Midnight,” “You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’,” and “Hell Bent For Leather.”

Nobody quite does the commercial metal thing like the true Metal Gods Judas Priest. There was a reason they ascended to where they did and why, even now, 3o years on, you can listen to this Turbo 30 release and still be amazed.
