We have seen normal life be disrupted like never before due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The virus has caused events to be delayed and postponed as people struggle to figure out how to function during this time. Some industries have been hit extremely hard, with the likes of airlines, travel, hotels, restaurants and son on seeing business plummet as people stay inside as much as possible. Due to this, there has been a rise in the use of the internet to deliver content and services to people. People are working from home and so work meetings are happening over video calls, for example. Casinos are shut, so people are going onto the internet to find new live casino websites which can provide them with the entertainment and fun of a casino from the safety of their homes. Concerts are not possible, so musicians have been taking to social media to put on live performances for their fans. One of the bands who have done so are Pretty Reckless, who have also been hit otherwise due to the pandemic.

Pretty Reckless were set to release their next album, ‘Death by Rock And Roll’, over the summer, with fans being treated to the lead single from the album, which has the same title, back in May. This was the band’s first new music release since 2016 and ‘Who You Selling For’. They also put out a lyric video for the song in June to build anticipation even further, but now frontwoman Taylor Momsen has released more details which will be sure to disappoint fans.

‘Death by Rock and Roll’, which has guests such as Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil and Matt Cameron, and Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello featuring on songs, will be delayed, according to Momsen, as the band wait and watch to see how the music industry fares over the next few months due to the impact of the coronavirus. Given that the band will not be able to go on a tour after the release of the album at the moment, they are putting it off to be able to best connect with their fans when they do release it. At the same time, Momsen has said that the band will release plenty of music during this time, with many more singles from the album being put out. The tour has tentatively been rescheduled to October, having been originally slated for May 2020, but it remains to be seen if even those delayed dates are possible.

Nevertheless, as stated earlier, Pretty Reckless have been putting out new music and performances for their fans online. Back in May 2020, the band performed as part of New Label’s online festival. The event, which was streamed on Fearless Records’ YouTube channel, featured acoustic performances from 10 bands and special appearances from 15 others. The likes of the Plain White T’s, The Almost, August Burns Red, Starset and Ice Nine Kills were some of the other acts who performed on this festival. This performance by Pretty Reckless came on the back of them signing a new deal with Fearless Records, which would release their new album later this year. As we said earlier, the release of ‘Death By Rock And Roll’ has been pushed back, however, and it is still uncertain as to when fans will get to listen to the full album.

Nevertheless, the band has committed to releasing more music throughout 2020. There are more singles from the album to come, and they may release some other music as well to keep their fans entertained during these trying times. Pretty Reckless are in the same place as almost every other musical outfit, as they wait and see what the environment is like for live performances and concerts once the virus is brought under control, whenever that happens.
