Steven Seagal: Lawman Season 1
(A&E Home Video)
Ever watch a cops-style show and see the whole incident end with the perp asking the arresting officer for an autograph? If that’s something you’d like to see, check out the first season of Steven Seagal: Lawman on DVD.
Here’s the summary of Lawman: imagine mixing Cops and the failed 2007 CBS reality series Armed and Famous in which B and C-list celebrities became police officers. What’s troubling about that coupling is that it actually kind of works. This 2-disc DVD set gives you just under 4.5 hours of the adrenaline of Cops, all while getting some entertainment out of seeing action star Steven Seagal in a totally new light.
Besides being a box office hero, Seagal has been a Deputy Sheriff in Louisiana for the last 20 years. Lawman’s first season gets you introduced to the special unit he heads up as they cruise Jefferson Parish in New Orleans for drugs and guns, practice their shooting, and reach out to the community.
Lawman also gets you a little more into Seagal’s life. Watch Steven play guitar with his blues band, teach a martial arts seminar to new recruits, train his two very intimidating guard dogs and wax philosophic on how aikido, the form of martial arts he’s mastered, has him perfectly prepared for anything in life from spotting potential bad guys to the Zen of shooting correctly. Most fun, though, is watching Seagal lose his cool. In his comfort zones he’s all collected and chilled out. Put someone with drugs or a gun in front of him, and watch him curse enough to make a sailor blush. If you want some solid cop and celebrity reality TV, definitely grab this DVD.
