The debut album for this actress, appropriately titled Road Between, bridges the gap between both worlds that she loves – music and acting. It is definitely a welcome addition to the world of country music.
The title track is an exploration of Hale as a person. It’s about her learning who she is, or as she says, “learning how to write my story,” only she is doing it in front of the whole world. It’s a new experience, but so far it seems, a successful one. Just like many girls her age, she knows she has things to figure out in life, but is ready to enjoy the journey.
Songs like “Kiss Me,” which talks about the game of love and heartbreak, and “You Sound Good to Me,” which is catchy and upbeat, really showcase the talent Hale has for country music. Her hard working, yet humble personality shines throughout this album.
Perhaps my favorite song on the album is “Nervous Girls.” With its poetic lyrics like, “wish I could jump off this reckless train of thought,” it speaks to the fact that no matter how different we are, we are all the same when it comes to having insecurities and that we should have the confidence to think better of ourselves.
Overall, Lucy Hale’s debut album is catchy, lyrically poetic, and shows that she is at home in the country music world. This album is an honest portrayal of her life the way it is now and where it is going. Will Lucy Hale come out with another album in the near future? Sounds good to me.
