Although late rapper and producer Chad “Pimp C” Butler passed away in 2007, the Texas emcee lives on with the posthumous Rap-a-Lot release Still Pimping.

The LP is essentially a grab bag full of guest appearances from UGK, Bun B, Houston rappers Paul Wall, Slim Thug and Lil KeKe, as well as Mississippi newcomer Big K.R.I.T., whom many compare to Pimp C for his rap style and production skills. There’s no doubt about it though, the standout joint is “Grippin’ on the Wood,” with Bun B and Big K.R.I.T.—and no disrespect to Bun, but K.R.I.T slays him.

As a Houston native I remember the Slim Thug-assisted “Finer Thangs” from years past, but other than that, the project is simply a small gift for fans. Other guest appearances include Too Short, Smoke D, DJ B-Do, and Brooke Valentine.
