THE SEX FILES: Summer Time

EXXXotica 2015So here we are in the dead heat of summer. About a month or so of this ahead of us, I’m already seeing “Back To School” ads crossing my nightly TV viewing. As S&S has home-bases on the coasts, we are especially aware of the heat index in L.A. and NYC and we just hope you have all managed to stay cool, when you want to and have managed to make some heat for yourself when appropriate.

Below are some ‘hot’ little tidbits from the news…

1. Dallas v.s. Exxxotica.

Our buddies at Exxxotica (I have reported about the sex convention plenty here in THE SEX FILES, see just this one installment) are getting heat over their Dallas show set to start this week. Dallas, Texas Mayor Mike Rawlings, along with critics like The Dallas Women’s Foundation are “deeply concerned” (Mayor Mike’s words) with the American-based sexpo coming to their city’s Convention Center. The three-day “largest adult event in the USA, dedicated to love & sex” features adult stars signing autographs, stage performances, seminars, sex toy manufacturers selling their wares and usually a goodly amount of strippers dancing around make-shift poles. No one under 18 is allowed into Exxxotica and though of late I have found the convention pretty much lackluster, really this is mostly a weekend for fans to come and take a picture with their favorite adult stars and buy a dildo.

Exxxotica director J. Handy declined to respond to the critiques, but I know that Exxxotica certainly has had its share of controversies and even saw a last minute change of venue due to local pressure, which also happened way back in the day in my home state of New Jersey. It seems lots of people do not want a weekend adult convention to take over their happy little hamlet (or more precisely convention center) but once again, if you don’t like this stuff…don’t go.

2. Trumped?

Let’s be clear right now, Ivana Trump was not raped by Donald Trump. I know most of us want to hate the guy with the bad comb-over (is it even a comb over, that thing on the Donald’s head looks like it has a life of its own) but Trump says enough daily to swing from his own petard, we don’t need to be making-up words or taking stuff out of context.

Yes, his ex-wife Ivana Trump once used the word “rape” to describe an intimate encounter that happened between her and The Donald in 1989. Reporting in her divorce deposition and later revealed in the book Lost Tycoon: The Many Lives of Donald J. Trump,  the now ex Mrs. Trump claims how she felt emotionally raped after less-then-loving lovemaking with Trump. Ivana released a statement just this Tuesday morning to CNN to make what she said years ago ever clearer:

“I have recently read some comments attributed to me from nearly 30 years ago at a time of very high tension during my divorce from Donald. The story is totally without merit. Donald and I are the best of friends and together have raised three children that we love and are very proud of. I have nothing but fondness for Donald and wish him the best of luck on his campaign. Incidentally, I think he would make an incredible president.”

While I am not supporting encounters where a man or woman indeed feels emotionally raped, reporters do need (or should be) careful with what words they sling around with their obvious intention. And in the case of D. T., he does make the presidential race a hoot and a holler. With the big money going to come down most likely for a Clinton v.s. Bush race, how could any of us think that the whole thing is anything less than a circus of Herculean proportions these days anyway? Trump is just another clown in a circus full of clowns.

3. Who says it isn’t an honorable profession?

“Heather” (not her real name) of West Virginia, killed Neal Falls in self-defense, after the couple met at Heather’s home connecting via the escort section of backpage.com. Coming after the lady with an obvious intent to do her bodily harm or worse, Heather struggled with her attacker-who-she-thought-was-going-to-be-her-John and shot the man dead. But when police arrived they found what could be evidence in Falls’ car to link him to some unsolved escort killings in other states.

Was the man a serial killer?

Police are presently investigating the “kill kit” found in Falls’ car: four sets of handcuffs, an ax, a machete, bulletproof vests, knives, a box cutter, a large container of bleach, and a large number of trash bags, just every day items we all drive around with! And though the FBI has said there is no current information to connect Falls to other crimes, there are cross state investigations occurring presently about the man. One thing is for sure, Heather knew Falls had come to kill her.

That’s what I have for you this week. Grab a cold one, take a dip, roll around on nice clean cool white sheets under the tickle of central air (even with a partner) and enjoy the rest of your summer.
