The charismatic genius of Washington, DC native Wale goes full-throttle on the new album properly titled, Ambition. Getting discovered by Mark Ronson in 2006 helped Wale emerge more into the mainstream, however he had already created a rapid regional appeal for years as well as strong writing credibility. No doubt one of the hardest working artists in rap music today, sophisticated and salacious rhythms accent Wale’s work.

Meticulous attention is paid to making music lyrically unique and wittily approached that are equally as ready when it comes to sounds that make crowds on dance floors move. Bombastic drums, pompous rises of jazz horns, fiery guitar riffs and funk bass runs are all pieces of the raucous victorious grandstanding pie on Ambition. If Rocky Balboa ever needed a new theme song, Wale should compose it. “Miami Nights” has break beats of a go-go nature while the feeling of having “made it” abound. “Lotus Flower Bomb” features the come-hither lustful sensuality of singer Miguel in this ode of seduction. The speed of delivery alternates in gear shifts while Wale easily flows in oscillating speeds. “That Way,” with Jeremih and Rick Ross, moves softly with the flair of a 70’s soul hit mostly because it features a sample of Curtis Mayfield’s elegant, “Give Me Your Love” and the shimmery brightness of “White Linen (Coolin),” with Ne-Yo, is boisterous and raunchy with slashes of 80’s synthesized pop.
