Sunday evenings are not the most common time to attend a concert. Many are preparing for the new week ahead of them and winding down from the weekend. Certain acts, however, can pull the masses out from their recluse, and Snowmine did just that.
The Bowery Ballroom was sold out to the closing show of Snowmine’s tour with Small Black. Opening the show was Maria Minerva, who got off to a rocky start with some technical issues and pitchy vocals. Her energy was high, however, and helped warm the audience up for the next two acts.
Snowmine took the stage to an eager audience and played from their souls. Their sound is one part Local Natives, one part Grizzly Bear, and one part enchantment. It is incredibly full, and hit the audience with a wall of mesmerizing sound. You could see the commitment and passion on the band mate’s faces, and their delivery was seamless. A visual backdrop of a snow covered mountain bathed in blue and white lights helped set the atmosphere for their set.
Small Black closed out the night on an upbeat and vigorous set. The crowd couldn’t keep still; a sea of people danced the night away to this Brooklyn based chillwave act. Â Sparkling lights, ethereal electronic riffs, and a vivacious vocal delivery culminated in an incredibly fun evening.
