The melancholy “Wishing,” opens LeeSun’s Singing You This Song then the full brush of wild deep harmonies opens the second, bass flumpin’ horn poppin’ sing-song-y “My Life.” It’s off to the races we go with this UK based singer/songwriter and I had no idea where LeeSun was leading with such an eclectic one-two punch and I loved it.

“Dry Your Tears,” is all sly slight slappy acoustic with Toby Noble’s electric pull offs, cool stuff indeed. Again the backing vocals add lots of cool color. “The Week You Loved Me,” is a sweet simple piano ode, with Tom Sidebottom’s strings slicing in the background and an odd stuttering drum beat. A mournful single electric guitar provides the perfect backdrop to LeeSun’s warbly talk-vocals of “Everything Dies,” the saddest and probably most straight-ahead song here. While the folky read of “I’m Coming Home,” sees the lady rolling round the lower end of her vocal range (mostly). When the soft harmonies float in, the song really catches you with its power.

What I especially like here, beyond what is obviously strong songwriting, is LeeSun’s ability for managing sweetness with a slight discordant brush to her soundscapes. It makes for an uncanny production and a damn good 13 tunes on Singing You This Song.
