Low’s new album, C’mon, is not the type of album you want to listen to on a sunny day. Introspective, quiet and filled with a lot of acoustic guitar, the album is wonderful rainy day music.

One of the standout tracks on the album is “Something’s Turning Over,” which features a female sing-along toward the end. The feminine touch adds a delicate sound to the already pensive track. “Try to Sleep” is another standout track that features harmonic bells and sensitive thoughts. Lyrics like “you try to sleep/’cause there’s never enough” make the listener turn the song’s spotlight on to themselves; I really started feeling like I was living the song. “Nothing But Heart” opens with loud distortion and, continuing with quiet tugs of the acoustic guitar, the song sings right into your heart. Another track worth mentioning is “$20,” which brings together the quiet guitar work with solid lyrics and reader emotion.

For listeners of Low prior to this album, this is exactly the type of mellow album you’d be expecting. New listeners will love this album if they are fans of acoustic music and powerful lyrics.
