7 Days of Funk is a collaborative project between DJ/producer Dam-Funk and iconic rapper Snoop Dogg (“Snoopzilla” here). Under the moniker, the duo provides us with a throwback sound of early ’80s soul and late ’70s funk. It’s kinda-sorta-but-not-really like funk engineers Bootsy Collins and George Clinton, but definitely heavily influenced by them. With pulsating basslines and heavy synths provided by Dam-Funk, and with Snoop’s smooth delivery style, the self-titled 7 Days of Funk is a solid first effort for these two. A handful of tracks will probably make it onto plenty of summer playlists. Favorites include “Faden Away,” “Ride” and bonus track “High Wit’ Me.”
