Richard Patrick, former touring guitar player for Nine Inch Nails and current mastermind behind Filter sat down (or rather stood up due to back problems) with Matt Pinfield to chat about the newest addition to Filters discography, Crazy Eyes.  Anecdotes to past Filter guitar players as well as inspiration for select songs were discussed over the course of the event with Patrick emphasizing that he wanted to not only make a record that was packed with meaning and quality from start to finish but also one that he would willingly put on and jive to.  A way of looking at making music that has long since been abandoned in a market driven by streamable singles, a blessing wrapped in a curse. After the first portion of the interview was finished the album was played in its entirety which was admittedly difficult to dissect in a room full of people in the ‘business’ presumably discussing ‘business’ and with an open bar to keep everyone slightly preoccupied. I was able to get a quick word with Patrick who said he would be taking Filter on the road to support the album starting April and will run through May.
