Third season Top Chef contestant Camille Becerra’s three-year-old restaurant, Paloma, is on the tail end of Greenpoint Ave, right in the heart of this growing Brooklyn neighborhood. Being the owner and Chef, she has created a menu with a focused cuisine she calls “New Urban American,” that is rooted in American cooking with influences from all over the world. The menu is revolving and on the night I was there I had the 1/2 Roasted Free Range Chicken with potato crisp & garlicky greens ($14), which I’d highly recommend along with the Stuffed Poblano (calabasa pumpkin, quinoa & cheddar-stuffed pepper over braised lentils with calabasa vinaigrette ($14)). The décor is a blend of café and gallery where art on the walls is constantly changing, while a DJ booth is the centerpiece, creating a very funky and fun atmosphere.
