Vapour Organic Beauty is a new group in the organic cosmetic trend. They categorize themselves as “the first truly 21st century beauty brand.” Vapour Organic is a noncomedogenic, organic line infused with hydrating botanicals. Noncomedogenic is an extravagant word the beauty industry employs to purport “it doesn’t clog your pores.” The full range skincare and makeup line moves effortlessly in application and interacts with skin to create a breathable layer. There are two components to Vapour Organic: Vapour Color for face, lips, and eyes, and the anti-aging Vapour Rituals Evolutionary skincare for face. The line was created by industry professional Eric Sakas who worked with Kevyn Aucoin Beauty and Philosophy Cosmetics.

We reviewed just about every product available from Vapour Organic Beauty with some hits and some misses. For lips, they offer Vapour Lux Lip Conditioner ($16), which is 95% organic. The ingredients include lemon balm, myrrh, antioxidant green tea, Iceland moss, and jojoba oil. This particular product was comparable to Carmex lip balm; it was even the same color. The Lip Conditioner was particularly hydrating, but lasted as long as any other lip product considering how many times per day your lips touch something. Next, I tried the Siren Lipstick in Desire – a cool, rosy mauve ($19), which is 70% organic and petroleum free. I thought this was another lip balm until I read the package more closely. There was virtually no pigment and the glossy texture felt more like a lip balm treatment. The final lip product was the Elixir Sheer Lip Gloss in Twinkle and Sultry ($20). This, too, was petroleum free and made with beeswax and castor; making it 70% organic. The lip glosses performed better, in terms of pigment, compared to their actual lipsticks. The color was faint and glossy, which I applied to set lipstick.

For the face, we moved onto Stratus Instant Skin Perfector ($44), which is 70% organic and made with botanicals, frankincense, tulsi, and lotus flower. This was Vapour’s second finest product next to their foundations. This quasi-primer works as the “no foundation foundation” which provided an instant glowing, brightened complexion. It comes in the form of a stick and it easily glides across the face to perk up tone and provide a flawless surface for makeup application. After that, I tried the Atmosphere Luminous Foundation ($38), which is 70% organic and made with frankincense, tulsi, and lotus flower. This was, by far, their best product in their line. What sets this foundation apart from other foundations is that not only does it bring luminosity to the face and evens skin tone, but it never, ever settles onto the face or into facial lines. My skin was as smooth as any magazine photo upon using this foundation. Atmosphere Luminous Foundation, and the Stratus Skin Perfector, are both exceptionally hydrating. After reviewing several products from Vapour Organic Beauty, their strongest products are the Vapour Rituals for face. Nevertheless, I wasn’t impressed with their lip or eye makeup products as they lacked visible pigment.

Vapour Organic is a promising line with a solid pledge to the eco-friendly cosmetic trend, which is proclaimed on their packaging with the following statement: “Vapour selected the purest, food-grade and certified organic ingredients to offer maximum efficacy and luxurious texture while respecting the environment and its resources. From the raw materials to the final packaging, each step in the process adheres to responsible practices, including wind power and sourcing recyclable and renewable packaging materials.”
