Plants and Animals: La La Land
Plants and Animals create a whimsical mix of music in their album La La Land. Their music is recorded to tapes and has that old crackly feel to it. There is a mix of raunchy guitar licks to sweet and soft ballads. The album is rounded out and gives you a little taste of everything. “The Mama Papa” is a fast paced ditty with rapid lyrics and a hard beat. The band is made up of Warren, ‘the Woodman’, and Nicolas. Their website boasts “the product of a musical three-way between two boyhood friends from Canada’s East Coast, and a French-Canadian,” thus showing that they have a great sense of humor. “Game Shows” is a slow tune that showcases Warren’s throaty vocals and envelops them in sexy, raw instrumentals. There is not a whole lot to say about this album besides the fact that it should be listened to. It suits many tastes and anyone would be crazy to not at least try it.
