Blitzen Trapper: Destroyer of the Void
The first thing you should get from Blitzen Trapper’s new album Destroyer of the Void is the vocals that will kick your ass. Gracious, harmonious voices that have not touched my ears in some time. This is another band with a sense of humor scattered around that is so appreciated when I look at a band, it shows they don’t take themselves too seriously and it’s all about enjoying the music. The album is singable and soft with periodic punches of power to remind you that the music is boss. Dare I say I was reminded a bit of Simon and Garfunkel? The music does not over impose itself on your ears but in a delicate manner make sure you are paying attention. The boys are from Portland, Oregon and sound like they should have burst out of Brooklyn. Ideal music to have at a gathering or open a book to, I believe summer is encompassed here.
