Wilson Phillips: Christmas in Harmony
Wilson Phillips is an iconic trio who know how to belt out their tunes. The multi-platinum artists released a holiday album perfect for Christmas and winter spirit. The album is predominantly Christmas-themed, but even those not wrapped in the Saint Nick spirit can enjoy the music. The music is wonderful to listen to during the days surrounding Christmas but even appropriate for winter in general. I know a few people who like Christmas music out of season and it’s even good for that too.
Their rendition of “Winter Wonderland” has a chillingly excellent harmony that only the trio could produce. Carnie Wilson, Wendy Wilson and Chynne Phillips are often spoken about in conjunction with their famous parents. The three women certainly have parents full of talent, but they have made a proud name of their own.
When I started listening to the album I couldn’t get an image of the Dixie Chicks out of my head. I realized that I was just comparing female harmony groups and that the difference between the two is extraordinary. Wilson Phillips has a quiet demeanor with a powerful sound once they join together. The Christmas album is one of the few that cuts through the endless, repetitive songs. Classic songs are reinvented with a new meaning from this legendary trio.
