Tina Dico
Welcome Back Colour
(Finest Gramophone)

Upon listening to her music, it quickly becomes clear that Tina Dico is a phenomenal singer/songwriter. Her melodious vocals cascade in sentiments laid against blustery rock or moody low-fi acoustic affairs. The beauty of Dico’s vocals is the perfect counterpart to the harmonious guitars and is, at times, a full band that occasionally creates a harder edge of sound. This two-disk album is full of wonderfully written tunes dedicated to love, remorse and heartbreak. Known for her collaborations with Zero 7, Tina Dico hails from Denmark. The meaningful depth of Welcome Back Colour will hopefully bring back the strength of 90’s female mainstream singer/songwriters who moved audiences and ruled charts with the visceral powerful nature of mentally vexing songs with great strength and adoration. Welcome Back Colour is Dico’s seventh album and is a devoted mix of several new songs, acoustic gems and her bigger hits. On “Watching Him Go,” Dico sings, “I just spent years saying no to this man chasing me down/And he got over me the minute I turned around.”

Whether the bright rock jaunt of “A New Situation,” or the more folk lilt of “Goldhawk Home,” Welcome Back Colour is righteously elegant.
