As a member of the experimental Brooklyn-based outfit Phenomenal Handclap Band, singer/songwriter Bing Ji Ling (aka Quinn Luke) releases his third solo LP, Shadow to Shine, a groovy mix of psychedelic rock, funk and soul. Bing Ji Ling means “ice cream” in Mandarin Chinese, which is fitting; Shadow to Shine is a well-crafted mix of summertime pop-rock and soul jams for most any rooftop party or backyard barbeque.

A definite throwback to the 60’s and 70’s-era of funk and psychedelic vibes, Bing Ji Ling also keeps it current with his own mix of catchy hooks and love melodies on such tunes as “Move On,” “Hold Tight,” “Sunshine Love,” and “A Little Love.” Produced by the guys behind Phenomenal Handclap Band (Daniel Collas and Sean Marquand) and featuring members of Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Scissor Sisters, Antibalas and Phenomenal Handclap Band, Shadow to Shine is a great mix of tight rhythms and sweet-as-candy vocals.
