Veteran soul singer Lee Fields brings a new collection of tunes on his latest album, Faithful Man. It is deeply soulful, a la Sam Cooke and Otis Redding, but with a modern twist, like Sharon Jones and The Dap-Kings. Representing Brooklyn’s Truth & Soul label, Fields’ third project still has the North Carolina native baring his heart to women, saying “I Still Got It” and “Wish You Were Here.”

Faithful Man is heartfelt and honest, complex and simple, and sweet and rough all at the same time. Bottom line: It’s rhythm and blues music with some tough horn arrangements, strings and backing vocals. Favorite: “You’re the Kind of Girl.”
