Having recorded with several well-known producers/Ninja Tune label mates (Bonobo-who produces this album with Mr. Scruff), plus providing the lovely vocals on 2008’s “Tea Leaf Dancers” by hip hop experimentalist Flying Lotus, soulful singer-songwriter Andreya Triana makes a wickedly solid debut with Lost Where I Belong.

The self taught UK-vocalist brings a mixture of downtempo, trip hop and folk sounds–with an obvious neo soul and jazz vibe, on the first single ”Lost Where I Belong” (to include a sweet FlyLo remix on 12”—yes, it’s on iTunes, too). But what I dig most about this album, beyond the unique vocal style: it’s experimental, yet accessible. It’s not far-reaching, but its summer-y, breezy, and it flows. Aside from the nicely crafted second single, “Town Called Obsolete,” other must listens are the jazzy “Up In Fire” and the soulful “Far Closer.”
