Even after spending decades in the music industry, inspiration hasn’t run dry for Chuck Prophet just yet. With a voice like Tom Petty and a Nick Cave-like style of delivery, Prophet’s new album, ¡Let Freedom Ring! is a delightful slice of rock and Americana. With such a great sound, it is a wonder that Prophet hasn’t found a more widespread fan base, especially considering how many albums he’s released over the years.

Prophet’s brand of music is the kind that you might hear on classic or modern rock radio stations, as his music effortlessly sounds like a batch of songs you’ve heard a thousand times before but still love and appreciate. While the lyrics sometimes discuss romantic relationships and the strife that often leaks in, other times, the artist digs more deeply and touches on political themes.

As the title of the album implies, there is a subtle analysis of a man working out his position in life in an ever-changing national landscape. The album feels a bit like a cross-country road trip with the radio turned up. Beneath the ever-present spirit of hope, there is a generous amount of personal exploration that certainly merits several repeat listens.
