Blending genres like roots reggae, gospel, and a bit of the blues, Toussaint (a.k.a. “The Liberator”) delves into his church background to educate, inspire, and simply spread love and positivity with a unique album that is much-needed in an industry of copycat products.

“Rise and Fall,” a motivation kind of song, features fellow Brooklynite Jahdan Blakkamoore.  Toussaint then shares the feeling of true love on “Unforgettable” and self-love on “Be You,” which craft lovely sounds and experiences that ultimately are Black Gold.

This preacher’s kid may not be all about spreading the gospel of love (or maybe he is), but for what it’s worth, Black Gold is definitely a solid and confident start to his solo career.
