Baltimore club producer Blaqstarr (also known as DJ Blaqstarr) has recently released his experimental artist EP entitled Divine on the Interscope label.

Known more for his songwriting and production skills on label mate M.I.A.’s sophomore album Kala and her latest MAYA, Blaqstarr is also the creator of the 2006 club hit “Shake It To The Ground,” by a then 16-year old Baltimore rapper named Rye Rye (who’s also toured as an opener for M.I.A.). Having also worked with Mos Def and Talib Kweli, the producer now arrives as an intriguing yet talented artist on Divine, which is a lo-fi blend of electro, hip hop and R&B.

If you can “imagine Prince re-making Sign O’the Times as a banging Baltimore Club record on a beat up four track recorder,”states Spin.com, then  you have some idea of what the Divine EP sounds like. Standout moments include “Rider Girl,” “Oh My Darling,” and the title track.
