Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and producer Marsha Ambrosius (of neo soul duo Floetry) finally releases her long-anticipated J-Records solo debut, Late Nights & Early Mornings.

Having created the lovely “Butterflies” for pop icon Michael Jackson, Ms. Ambrosius also crafted beautiful and heartfelt lyrics on her own project that includes contributions from label mate Alicia Keys, and Grammy Award-winning duo Dre and Vidal (producers of Floetry’s hit single “Say Yes”).

Though Late Nights & Early Mornings tackle a range of topics from love and loss to intimacy and heartbreak, it is still a cohesive project. Known for her ability to produce songs that resonates with listeners, Ms. Ambrosius continues with that format on the lead single “Hope She Cheats On You (With a Basketball Player), a slightly ego-driven song that she says is about “the reality of a bad breakup. We wanna be decent human beings and say the right thing, you know, ‘I wish you well.’ But this is ‘Everything that could go wrong for him I want it to because my ego is bruised and I’m acting out.’” Save for war, there is still love on such notables as “With You,” the oh-so-seductive title track, “I Want You To Stay” featuring Alicia Keys and an especially personal “Far Away,” which deals with suicide, bullying and homophobia.
