Serving up their own impression of the DJ-KiCKS mix compilation series (the first one of the year!), Brooklyn-based duo Wolf + Lamb and Boston natives Soul Clap give us a soulful yet groovy set.

Following a long list of remixers (Kruder and Dorfmeister, DJ Cam, Vikter Duplaix, Chromeo, and others), Gadi Mizrahi, Zev Eisenberg (Wolf + Lamb), and Eli Goldstein and Charles Levine (Soul Clap) began working together in 2008 to create a collection of tunes by mainly family and friends who had released music on the Wolf + Lamb music label of the same name.

The 27 tracks mimic a lazy Sunday afternoon of deep house and down tempo vibes. With changes in emotion, tempo and flow, plus nine exclusive tracks, the quartet digs deep “to bring sexiness back to the dance floor,” which happens to be their mission statement. Standout tracks such as “In The Park,” “Can’t See What Is Burning There” (my absolute favorite), and “Takin’ U Back,” I would have to say mission is solidly accomplished.
