Real Estate sounds a lot like many of your favorite indie acts like Phantogram, Surfer Blood and Atlas Sound. However, there’s room in this camp of indie darlings for another band as strong as Real Estate.

“Wonder Years” is a sweet, uplifting track. There isn’t anything special about the track, however. Sweet, simple lyrics couple well with a guitar and strumming melody. Of course, it’s always the simplest tracks that can get to you the most. Something inside of this simple ballad feels outstanding. Perhaps it’s the sing-a-long chorus of “do do do’s” or the lyrics, but the song goes beyond being enjoyable to being an experience.  “It’s Real” has a surfer-at-the-beach feeling to it and a vibe similar to the Decemberists. In fact, don’t be confused if you mix up the vocalists. The song itself stands well on its own as another track to watch on this sleeper album. After a few listens, this album slowly weaves itself into your brain. “Three Blocks” is a quieter track with swirling melodies. Airy vocals and a simple sound, the track is vibrant and lulling. Use this song for your relaxing or calming playlists, hipsters – it’s the perfect fit.

Even though the band quickly brings to mind so many other acts in the indie music sphere, Real Estate proves there’s enough space for another strong act.
