The Short answer is yes. But of course, it does get complicated. With the economy in a downturn and the unemployment rate sitting steady at 8.0% as of December 2011, the State government of NYC is starting to think of more creative solutions for bringing in revenue and adding more jobs into New York. With the possibility of online casino laws in New York changing, legalized gambling, which includes casino’s have now made their way to the big Apple as Resorts World Casino New York City opened near Aqueduct in South Ozone Park in October 2011.  Featuring 5,000 video gambling terminals and electronic table games, including craps and a popular Asian dice game known as sic bo, the casino is possibly the first step in legalizing gambling in New York City, which could change the skyline dramatically.

How do casino’s all of a sudden come to NYC? According to New York State laws, electronic gambling at racetracks is legal, which could change things big time. Imagine playing the slots, roulette, and poker and then catching Mary Poppins on Broadway in midtown. It could happen and at this point it might make sense. Right now, it seems like the casino at Aqueduct is a test and only time will tell if it catches on and turns New York City into the next Atlantic City.
