Brooklyn Industries just recently premiered their spring collection with a Crash into Spring Fashion Presentation and the unveiling of the special edition Crash handbag on Friday, February 10th. Through set up and decor, the event captured an underground, industrial, urban vibe. It was held in the basement of the store with cocktails and donuts being served. A special part of the night was the live art show which featured projections of photo-shoots projected on the wall. The music also set up an amazing vibe for the guests; spinning live from Los Angeles was DJ Sosupersam.

The whole spring line and fashion event was inspired by the book Crash by JG Ballard. The book is a controversial story about a character who becomes sexually aroused from participating in real-life car crashes. The book introduces a new sexuality born from technology. The mannequins weren’t ordinary fashion forms but their heads were removed and replaced with a silver sort of sculpture that extended from the top of their necks to the ceiling. The walls were covered with old newspapers. The inspiration of the collection also had an industrial 70’s vibe.

The Crash into spring event also premiered their special Crash bag made all from canvas. The CEO of Brooklyn Industries spray-painted the bags himself. These aren’t bags that are mass produced in factories. The leather on the bags are imported from Italy and is the same leather used on Louie Vuitton bags. Another unique characteristic about this Crash bag is the handles. The handles change into a mahogany color with touch. This bag goes for $94 dollars.

As for the production of the garments, some of the T-shirts are actually made in Brooklyn, New York. The whole event was very hip, urban and fun!
