Nowadays when I think of 7-Eleven, all that comes to mind is if Mayor Bloomberg enforces his new beverage law, that will see all drink sizes in NYC become no bigger than 16 ounces, how will I survive this summer without a Big Gulp? Whether they are getting ready for this or just being clever, prepare for a SLAP.
SLAP Frozen Energy, the first ever frozen energy drink (if you haven’t guessed by now) is now being sold at 7-Eleven. Available for $2.39 each, it come in three flavors: Strawberry-Frost, Crisp Apple, and Lemonade. Stored in the freezer, it has the consistency of a slushie in a 10 ounce pouch, (think Capri Sun), with ingredients that include taurine, caffeine and B vitamins, while containing 25 percent more energy than the leading energy drink brands, according to the website. For a frozen energy drink that’s the first of its kind, it thaws down to drink pretty quickly and tastes great compared to other energy drinks I’ve tried earning a thumbs up. For a fast and enjoyable kick, it’s definitely going to be a go-to substitute this summer as the weather heats up, and in case the Big Gulp is outlawed.
