Maybe I’m just becoming more and more desensitized to ridiculously high platforms, chunky heels, and spikes galore, but I’ve gradually evolved from being borderline afraid of Jeffrey Campbell creations to a full-fledged obsessive fan. From skull-embellished smoking loafers and spike-bedazzled Lita boots to strappy wedge sneakers even I could practically slam-dunk in, the edgy’s designers looks aren’t always practical, but they’re always exciting to look at. And when I found out he was joining forces with Karmaloop to create his first-ever capsule collection for the online store, I knew it would be something I wouldn’t want to miss… even if I didn’t have the guts to buy any of the styles myself! Due to hit e-shelves at the end of summer, the Paradigm Collection features the collaborative creations of Karmaloop shoe buyer Joe Farese and the JC team, and the result is a kooky, athletic-inspired mix of sporty space-age platforms, Gaga-inspired heel-less boots, and plenty of futuristic sneaker wedges, perfect for the “human alien” in all of us. Plus, it’s hard not to be stoked when the Phillip Mimms-designed lookbook is awesomely creepy-cool!
