Top of the World, the new album from Slightly Stoopid thrives very well within the confines the band has formulated since the mid-90’s. Slightly Stoopid has always been infectiously admired for its feel-good charismatic charm. Very apparent is also the fidelity the seven-piece band possesses and warmth thrives within the pleasurable run of each track. Distinctly-placed horns accent a Utopian, carefree ambience, while bass lines move with captivating energy. Reggae is the primary foundation of Top of the World as it mixes elements of rap, rock, rhythm and blues, ska, hip hop, dub, pop and roots music. Fiery lines of rhythm guitar move sexily on “Way You Move,” while the reminiscent “We Don’t Wanna Go” is way more laid back and loose. The list of featured artists on the album is impeccable as it consists of Angelo Moore of Fishbone, G. Love, Angela Hunte and Barrington Levy.
