Victoria Hesketh, professionally known as Little Boots, releases Nocturnes, a romp into the world of house and disco that is a delight to listen to. The first time I played the sophomore release, I swore I wanted to break out some glitter and neon lights and just dance my troubles away. No surprise, the word “nocturnes” literally means “a work of art dealing with evening or night.” Little Boots herself says it is “an album indebted to the night.”

Produced by Hesketh and DFA co-founder Tim Goldsworthy, Nocturnes, which was released on her own On Repeat label, is a near-perfect blend of delightful pop and fantastic dance tunes, reminiscent of Australian pop star Kylie Minogue, but with a lot of old-school analog New York disco and house influences. Goldsworthy crafted seven of the album’s 10 tracks. Favorite spins include “Confusion,” “Beat Beat” and “All For You.”
