The fifth studio album from Jason Mraz, Yes!, has his fans saying just that. With beautiful instrumentals and strong vocals throughout, this album certainly does not disappoint. It brings out the more acoustic side of this artist, who has a way with words to say what we all have thought at one moment or another.
Songs like “Love Someone,†with the idea that when you love someone it comes back to you and “Hello, You Beautiful Thing†with lyrics like “My thoughts are all I’ve got, so I try to make ‘em brave†are just two examples. While every song on this album has the melody and catchiness we have come to love from Jason Mraz, perhaps my favorite song is “Long Drive.†The romantic notion of having the perfect night, or the perfect moment, and not wanting it to end is both relatable and wonderful.
Some songs, like “Back to Earth,†are very simplistic, almost too simplistic when it comes to lyrics. However, what they lack lyrically, they make up for in catchiness. Overall, I would say this album is definitely worth a listen and is the perfect companion to the carefree days of summer.
