Last week I happened to attend a couple of XBIZ seminars, learning about what has been happening in the world of retail adult pleasure products. As you’d expect, lots of what was discussed were the impact that COVID-19 has had on that business; supply chain worries, sick employees causing complete warehouse shutdowns (and companies worrying and scrambling to make sure nobody gets sick or sicker), and lack of materials. It’s pretty much a mess in this business like all others. And in the mix of panelists who spoke about these concerns and many other things was a representative from LELO, a premier adult toymaker I have covered in this column before.

Then just as those seminars wrapped up, I received a press release from a press agent about LELO teaming up with haute couture brand Aura Tout Vu to create a new collection of unique luxury accessories.

Requesting that the curious “Open the secret box,” what these companies have created together are items that their press claims, “even the most powerful celebrities do not own yet.” But you certainly can.

The LELO x On Aura Tout Vu collaboration is offered today through their limited-edition haute couture line, a reimagining of adult products with jewelry bags said to “hide your most intimate secrets.” These pieces were revealed at Paris Haute Couture, just last week as part of Fashion Week. The seven include the ORA 3 by LELO, a “passion simulator” adorned with crystals and gold-plated cabochons, with a matching handbag to discreetly fit its shape. The brand’s essential SILA, now enhanced with gold-plated cabochons and sparkling crystals, also in its own case. The MIA 2, proudly worn like a pendant with “delicious virtues,” and what the companies are calling the “Icing on the cake,” the newly introduced Smart Wand 2. This body massager is the high end of magic wand fun for all your aches and pains. It too slips into a custom-made leather case, adorned with crystals, gold plated cabochons, and sparkling spikes shining brightly.

Designers Yassen Samouilov and Livia Stoianova have stood out at On Aura Tour Vu since 1998 for their extravagant and atypical creations, far from the conventional couture fashion. As much as this new collaboration with LELO, the house explores ready-to-wear clothes, accessories, object-oriented designs, perfumery, stage costumes, and scenography for ballets and shows.

For 20 years, LELO has established itself as THE luxury adult pleasure product brand. Its reputation has been built on delivering quality time and time again. But LELO also sees itself as a “self-care movement aimed at those who know that satisfaction transcends gender, sexual orientation, race, and age.” Offering their customers the experience of ecstasy without shame, the pleasure of discovering all the wonders of one’s body, the company facilitates its users with confidence that leads to a fulfilled, intimate life.

I can’t say for certain if this is the first time an adult product maker has connected with a haute couture designer. I know plenty of pleasure product producers who do indeed offer their wares in beautiful cases, and truthfully these days (and what was reiterated to me during that seminar), most makers of adult toys are trying to make them ever more pleasing to the eye…and not just our pink parts. So, this LELO/On Aura Tour Vu marriage seems to certainly be of our time.

Whether this will stay or begin a trend, or the more recent concerns of gender identity will affect toy packing or creation (which, again, I heard the panelists of the seminar discussing) remains to be seen.

I just know that with the above mentioned, there are some cool creations. See them here.
