NYC COMIC CON 2019

NYC COMIC CON 2019

Reminded that “Cosplay is Not Consent” (thanks very much Comic-Con, as if I didn’t know) here men and women paint themselves, don various costumes (lots self-made) to be looked upon, have their picture taken, to be ogled. Confidence is high in the cosplay universe and simply put, everybody dressed at Comic Con, showing whatever of themselves they are showing, is hoping to be looked at.

Steve Hackett: Genesis Revisited Solo Gems & GTR @ Tarrytown Music Hall, 2/18/18

Steve Hackett: Genesis Revisited Solo Gems & GTR @ Tarrytown Music Hall, 2/18/18

I’m sure Steve Hackett and his absolutely stellar band-Roger King (keyboards), Gary O’Toole (drums/percussion/vocals), Rob Townsend (saxes/flutes/keys/percussion), Jonas Reingold (bass/twelve string) and Nad Sylvan on vocals-have their off nights. You can’t play as many shows as the ex-Genesis ax man does and not have your ups and downs. But I am here to attest, that in the four times I have seen Mr. Hackett and his 5-piece, he has continues to amaze me.

Joe Lynn Turner @ The Cutting Room, NYC 1/26/18

Joe Lynn Turner @ The Cutting Room, NYC 1/26/18

Joe Lynn Turner, one of the seminal voices in heavy rock, blew through The Cutting Room last week like a hellion. With a seasoned 4-piece behind him-Dr. Gary Zappa playing keyboards, Rob DiMartino bass, Angus Clark guitar and Charlie Z drumming-this was a kinetic hour and a half, mainly made up of tunes from famous band’s Mr. Turner has fronted.
